I will have the honor of being your child’s kindergarten teacher this year! I am so very excited about this... and I just know we will have a fabulous year together! I take the responsibility of being your child’s teacher very seriously, and I want to assure you that I will do my very best to help your child develop to his or her full potential this year. I am a mother myself, so I will treat your son or daughter as I would love for my children’s teachers to treat them! I will shower your child with love and encouragement so that together we will build a classroom that is anchored in respect and positive attitudes. I have a passion for teaching and inspiring children to become confident, eager life-long learners. Together, we will have an incredible year of impactful learning!!

Because we will be building an important relationship this year, I would like to introduce myself to you and give you some insight into who I am. I have a husband named Lee and three children; Ben (who is in sixth grade), Cooper (who is in third grade), and my baby girl Drew (who turned 4 years old at the beginning of August). We live in Harriman. I was born in Maryland, but I grew up in Athens, Tennessee. I attended Middle Tennessee State University. This is my seventh year teaching at Bowers Elementary, and my fifteenth year of teaching. I have taught various elementary and middle school grades, including seven years of kindergarten and four years of first grade. My family spends most of our free time at a baseball field or a basketball court, and we are huge Boston Red Sox fans! I love to cook and work outdoors in my flowers (when I have time!). I enjoy swimming, running, and walking. I can’t put down a good book (or chocolate!), and I enjoy nature to its fullest. Also, I am fascinated and allured by antiques and weathered furniture (what my husband calls my “junk”!). I am also an avid recycler and I am becoming more and more “green.”

I am looking very forward to learning more about you, and I absolutely can’t wait to get to know your child! It is such an important year in your child’s life, and I will do everything I can to ensure that it will be an absolutely positive experience! I want to work as a strong team this year, and I am here to listen to any concerns you may have. Thank you for your support, and I am looking forward to an awesome year!!!

I attended Middle Tennessee State University and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Grades K-8) with Summa Cum Laude honors.

I have had the pleasure of teaching a wide range of grades, including Kindergarten, First Grade, Fourth Grade, Sixth Grade Language Arts, and Seventh Grade Science.

I received the honor of Westwood Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2009-2010. I was also nominated as an Alabama Teacher of the Year Local School Nominee in 2010. I was honored to have been selected as a WBIR Channel 10 Educator of the Week in 2015.
