What time does school start?
The doors to Bowers open at 7:30 where students are asked to go to the cafeteria for breakfast and wait for further dismissal. K-2 students are dismissed from the cafeteria at 8:00 and walk in a straight, quiet line to their classrooms. 3-5 students are dismissed from the gym at 8:00 when the bell rings. All students are to be in their classroom at 8:10 when the tardy bell rings.
What happens if my child is not at school by 8:10 AM?
If your child is not at school by 8:10, they must stop by the office before going to their classroom to receive a tardy slip. If a child does not have an acceptable excuse, the tardy will be recorded as unexcused. Three (3) unexcused tardies equal one (1) unexcused absence.
What if my child misses a day of school?
If you know ahead of time that your child is going to be absent, please make efforts to phone the school or your child’s teacher. If your child is absent from school, they must bring in a note of excuse within three (3) days of the absence.
May I visit my child’s school and classroom?
Yes, you may visit the school at any time. We ask that you stop by the office to sign in and receive a visitor’s badge. Please keep in mind that students are involved in learning activities most of the day. Convenient times to visit are during scheduled walking times and lunch, or at other times determined by your child’s teacher.
If I have a concern about my child, can I schedule a conference?
At any time during the year you have a question, concern, or comment about your child’s success at Bowers, please contact your child’s teacher or other faculty member. We are always willing to discuss how your child is doing. If you feel that a more in depth conference needs to take place, schedule a time with your child’s teacher.
